Jane - TrackLog 101

Adam WarRock “Jane” (blog post)

verse 1:

You feel the bump of the bass as the lights go low
Maybe make you lose control
And the sweat starts pouring
Drinks start flowing
Down at the club, got me ready to go

Actually, probably not
I’m probably down at the coffee shop
Being boring as hell, with a book in my hand
Drinking green tea, blowing cuz the cup’s too hot

Never one for the club scene,
And on Friday night, I’m just catching up on sleep
I can’t keep with the pace of the race
And the women at the club never really could love me

Rather have a bookworm or a nerdy chick,
Someone I could spend every night with
Watching old movies, listening to music
Chilling while she rereads Pride & Prejudice

hook:

These other ladies, they got no manners
All they wanna do is put they hands up
All they wanna do is just rock the spot
Everybody’s gone when the music stops

Cuz dancing all night’s exhausting
I’d rather read a book to get lost in
We could stay in tonight,
You could help me write a story,
You could be my Jane Austen

People don’t dance no more, all they do is this
You can be my Jane Austen

verse 2:

This ain’t really a song about Jane
It’s just the simplest way to help me explain
Why I feel so tired, can’t keep drinking
Bad hangover, got me thinking

Cuz I know Ms. Austen, never got hitched
And the people thought this
Meant she never had a night with bloke
Who could tell it to her straight,
In his eyes, don’t you know she got lost in

And I ain’t talking ‘bout that,
Cuz I’m busy with the raps, and the trips that I pack for
But it’s lonely out on the road,
And I’d love to have a woman smart enough to come back for

I find… most of these women is tellingly lacking in
Sense and Sensibility, actually,
Lacked abilities for getting shorties at the club to give me any love
What the hell you think I rap for?

[hook]

J to the A the N to the E
A to the U to the S to the T E-N
When you see down at the bookstore
I don’t even know where I’m s’posed to begin
